CBC national media/radio organised a meeting to discuss the refugee situation, especially the border jumpers. All points of view are represented: pro- and anti- migrants. Economy issues are also raised, as well as security of the inhabitants of Manitoba, particularly the people living in the towns close by the border. The fear about islam and
terrorism questions are there but never directly addressed.

St-Bernard de Lacolle's mayor in his office. Contrary to Emerson the municipality is very wide and not dense at all. Besides, the border is quite far away from the first houses... The mayor does not have any bad stories to report apart from a cop who died driving to the border to arrest some border jumpers because of bad visibility. He says that people are a bit concerned about their tranquillity for the summer but not much.
