Torchlight procession in support of undocumented strikers
Nicolas Landemard / Le Pictorium
LePictoriumV_284595.mp4
Between 100 and 200 people gathered in front of the Beguinage church in the Belgian capital in support of some 500 undocumented migrants on hunger strike in Brussels. With the coronavirus crisis, many undocumented migrants (most of whom have been present on Belgian territory for several years) have lost their job(s) and have found themselves totally insecure. The movement started with the occupation of the Beguinage Church and spread to several places in the city and sometimes to other cities in the country. Multiplying actions and demonstrations. Faced with the refusal of regularisations and changes in the government's law, they have been on hunger strike since 23 May 2021. In recent days, while some strikers have come to sew their lips, their situation has attracted international attention, particularly from the church and the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights.

European Demonstration for Freedom.
Nicolas Landemard / Le Pictorium
LePictorium_0247795.jpg
Several thousand people from all over Europe gathered today to march in the Belgian capital. Coming from different backgrounds (former military, anti-vacc, anti-mask, conspiracy, supporters of Jurgen Coning, QAnon....) they protested against all laws considered as liberticides, the wearing of masks, the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus....Revendants all fundamental freedoms in their eyes. The demonstration took place in a calm and good-natured atmosphere from the Bois de la Cambre to the Schumann roundabout (headquarters of the European institutions). At the end of the demonstration one or two minor incidents between some demonstrators and the police took place, without seriousness.
