Bronze sculpture of Duke Gediminas in front of Vilnius Cathedral. Gediminas was the founder of Trakai and Vilnius, and one of the most famous rulers of ancient Lithuania, who lived from 1275 to 1341 and ruled the Grand Duchy of Lithuania for 25 years. Vilnius cathedral is dedicated to Saint Stanislas and Saint Ladislas, with a chapel dedicated to Saint Casimir. It was here that the Grand Dukes of Lithuania were crowned. The cathedral was completely renovated between 2006 and 2008.
